Payton Alexander Masterson Obituary (2000 - 2022)

Payton Alexander Masterson, 22, left this world far too soon and ascended into the ether on Friday, November 11, 2022. He was born in Evansville, Indiana on Tuesday, January 18, 2000, the son of Charles, Jr. and Jennifer (Young) Masterson. Payton was a kind-hearted, free spirit who touched the lives of friends and family with his humor and smile. He had the kind of smile that was contagious. He lit up every room he walked into. He was the kind of person that everyone gravitated towards because of his positive energy. Payton took pride in his work as a piercer at Never Enough Tattoo Shop, where he worked alongside his soulmate, Katie Zuelly, whom he often matched hair with. Payton is a beautiful soul, and he is loved by so many. It was a privilege to have him on this earth with us, even if we all wish we could have had him for longer. But he will live forever with us in our memories. Payton was a loving uncle to his young niece and two nephews. He loved to watch them play and how they can be excited by mundane things the rest of us overlook and take for granted. He laughed at their silly remarks, especially when it was brutally honest. Payton even showed his pride in them by tattooing their names and birthdates on his ribs. Now he is their guardian angel and will be watching over them. Payton loved hiking, sushi, and pretty much any kind of tea. He also loved scrolling Reddit, because he had a brilliant mind and loved to learn, and he was so skilled at acquiring knowledge. He was so educated on so many topics. He also really loved music, a lot of days it was his happy place. Payton loved anything else that involved spending time with his family, Katie, and his friends. He was also a loving cat dad to his baby cat, Jinx. He is survived by his parents, Chuck and Jennifer Masterson, Cannelton; sisters, Allison Masterson (Charles Payne), Evansville and Kourtney Masterson, Cannelton; niece and nephews, Clara, Theodore and Jonah; grandparents, John and Connie Young, Somerville, IN, Randy and Eva Vogt, Cannelton; his girlfriend, Katie Zuelly, Tell City; and an array of friends that he considered family. He was preceded in passing by grandfather, Charles Masterson, Sr. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM CST on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to help with funeral expenses.
